Ch...ch…ch…changes

This summer we knew that it was the only time we would have lots of time to work on the nursery. So Jeff worked on the nursery. So we made the decision to move the study to the front room and the room next room the master is to be the nursery. It’s also further from the living room so that it will be quieter. You know that one thing leads to another. We needed to move the stuff out of the front room, to some where, so most of it went into the garage. Then Jeff cleaned and organized the garage. It’s not done yet but well on its way. The nursery is almost done, just a few things to finish up. Here are some pictures of the progress. I unfortunaly don't have a picture of what it started like.

Doctor Visit #4

Had another doctor visit today. Our little pumpkin is growing at a normal pace. He measured right at 21w or 21w 2d, depending on what you measured. We did not find out the gender of the baby. The "he" is a royal one. We did not like the idea of calling the baby "it" and the baby is no longer a 'little peanut' at about a pound.

New Little One

Our new little one is of the furry persuasion.

We have a new addition to the family, Logos, the grey cat. Jeff had been feeding a neighborhood cat for a while and wanted to keep him. He is nice and friendly, not totally comfortable with us yet, but that's ok, it will take a while. We wanted to introduce him to Lizzie but decided to wait till we had taken him to the vet.

We took him to the vet on Monday. He got a clean bill of health, except for ear mites. Logos did have fleas but that we had taken care of the week before. So he has gotten all his shots and will have to go back for a booster round in a month. He is a good car rider. He will talk for about a minute or so then lay down till the car stops for a while, like at a long red light. He will then say one or two things more then lay down again. He did not scratch and paw at the carrier till he was in the house and had stopped moving. Logos is a domestic short hair, about 1 year old and weighs 10 pounds. He will get bigger because he does not 'fit' his paws right now.

We introduced Lizzie and Logos Monday night. It did not go that bad. Logos just wanted to explore the house. Lizzie left him alone for a minute or so, then followed him around. We are not sure if Lizzie wanted to play or if she was asserting her domination, as she batted him a couple of times. No claws were used, she is good at not using them. He did spray a couple of times but not anything that we could not clean or wash. He was inside for about 20 minutes then decided that he wanted out. So we let him. We will have to see how further interactions go. As of right now they are not alone in the house together.

Doctor Visit #3

We went to the doctor yesterday for a check up. I am now 17 weeks. We heard the baby's heart beat with the Doppler twice now. This time we got to hear our little pumpkin moving. We tried to record it but it did not work. It's nice to know that s/he is moving, I can't feel any movement yet. We are still in the decision of not finding out the gender till October. Next appointment is in June and that will be one of the big ultrasounds with pictures and everything. We do have another addition to the family now but that is for another post.

So, last week while I was taking one of my naps at the office, one of my coworkers took my picture.

Relay for Life

The Taylor Relay for Life was on Friday night, or at least it was supposed to be. If you don't know Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society's fundraisers. You make a team, get donations, then the night of the Relay you walk for 12 hours. You typically hold the event a local high school track and start about 7pm. It's great. One of the fundraisers you can do is buy luminaries in honor and memory of anyone you want. Then they line the track with them and light them so they glow all night. It's a moving experience. Well anyway, Jeff was on the committee this year. He asked the Legacy student council if they wanted to help with the overnight games. He got a resounding YES!! He had about 30 students (freshmen and sophomores) sign up to work games from midnight to about 5 or 6am. So they decided on the games, order, and schedule for the night. They were really disappointed when it got rained shortened. RFL-Taylor still had the Survivors reception, and Opening ceremony. It even stopped raining enough for us to have a Survivor Lap and Team Lap. Jeff said that his students were asking when it was going to be rescheduled, they were very bummed about it. Jeff also said that it was touching to have these young adults care about something and being enthusiastic about it.

Doctor Visit #2

Today we went for our second doctor visit. We got to hear the baby's heart beat. A great 157, I might add. It's amazing. Some times I don't think its really happening. I am now 12 weeks and 6 days. I am almost at the end of my first trimester and am blessed that I have had none of the 'typical' pregnancy symptoms, no morning sickness (I think that Jeff took care of that while he was sick), no cravings, no real food aversions. I am truly blessed. I have been eating more and slightly more tired but nothing a power nap in the afternoon can't fix. I do have to keep something in my stomach all the time but that is not that hard. I am even proud to say that I did not gain any weight through the first 13 weeks. I really don't want to gain 30 or 40 pounds. Did you know that you only need about 300 extra daily calories? I have not been counting or anything like that, just being smart about what I do eat. I was on WeightWatchers before getting pregnant, and doing well. Over the last year I have learned to eat healthy, with the right portion sizes and the right proportions of food. That I have just carried that on and I think, no know, that is what has helped me the most. I am looking forward to the rest of this adventure.
