Nap time

So, last week while I was taking one of my naps at the office, one of my coworkers took my picture.

Relay for Life

The Taylor Relay for Life was on Friday night, or at least it was supposed to be. If you don't know Relay for Life is one of the American Cancer Society's fundraisers. You make a team, get donations, then the night of the Relay you walk for 12 hours. You typically hold the event a local high school track and start about 7pm. It's great. One of the fundraisers you can do is buy luminaries in honor and memory of anyone you want. Then they line the track with them and light them so they glow all night. It's a moving experience. Well anyway, Jeff was on the committee this year. He asked the Legacy student council if they wanted to help with the overnight games. He got a resounding YES!! He had about 30 students (freshmen and sophomores) sign up to work games from midnight to about 5 or 6am. So they decided on the games, order, and schedule for the night. They were really disappointed when it got rained shortened. RFL-Taylor still had the Survivors reception, and Opening ceremony. It even stopped raining enough for us to have a Survivor Lap and Team Lap. Jeff said that his students were asking when it was going to be rescheduled, they were very bummed about it. Jeff also said that it was touching to have these young adults care about something and being enthusiastic about it.

Doctor Visit #2

Today we went for our second doctor visit. We got to hear the baby's heart beat. A great 157, I might add. It's amazing. Some times I don't think its really happening. I am now 12 weeks and 6 days. I am almost at the end of my first trimester and am blessed that I have had none of the 'typical' pregnancy symptoms, no morning sickness (I think that Jeff took care of that while he was sick), no cravings, no real food aversions. I am truly blessed. I have been eating more and slightly more tired but nothing a power nap in the afternoon can't fix. I do have to keep something in my stomach all the time but that is not that hard. I am even proud to say that I did not gain any weight through the first 13 weeks. I really don't want to gain 30 or 40 pounds. Did you know that you only need about 300 extra daily calories? I have not been counting or anything like that, just being smart about what I do eat. I was on WeightWatchers before getting pregnant, and doing well. Over the last year I have learned to eat healthy, with the right portion sizes and the right proportions of food. That I have just carried that on and I think, no know, that is what has helped me the most. I am looking forward to the rest of this adventure.
